On September 22, 2016 Audi start first testing session for 2019 Audi S7 new generation. Although the first generation on the market since 2012 recent presentations Prologue Concept give the basis to move into development phase. Although camouflage is present all over the body, it is clear that underneath hides a lot of details presented by Prologue. Luxury sport sedan in showrooms ships in 2019 and could receive more power in the existing engine or maybe new engine.
Start testing is important for all fans of the Audi because designers do not have the habit to significantly change the vehicle appearance between generations. Usually an unusual buyer are not visible but use Prologue Concept will offer something different. There are now opening two questions. First, whether this could mean a change of design for regular Audi A7 and second how the change will affect the price. It is especially important issue second due to competition make Mercedes CLS Coupe and BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe.
2019 Audi S7 Spy Shot
We have already said that purchases often do not see a visual difference among the models and two generations because they are not so expressed. The 2019 Audi S7 test mule reveal much cleaner design that seemed to pull inspiration from Prologue. Similarities that we notice, starting from oddly smooth hood, hexagonal grille, thin headlights and dominating corner air intakes. Of course, fascia isn’t a finished but looms cleaner design and absence sharp body lines.
Side view reveal same distinct body line between wheel arches and little shorter mirrors. As we move towards the rear; wide rear quarters and roof look create Sportback style. Back view offers a lot of minor changes except new thinner taillights with more rounded contour on edges. Adaptive spoiler star for now while twin dual exhaust outlets and mild diffuser-like element can finish definition of the production model on rear.
2019 Audi S7 Interior
Without interior spy shot is impossible to create rendering for cabin in this time. Expect to see two-tone style interior with some new colors and virtual cockpit instead regular instrument cluster. Center console probably will not significantly be changed but can receive some carbon fiber inserts. The same can be said for door panels and dashboard. The second generation can also bring sport steering wheel with flat bottom and seats with support. Traditional big touchscreen can receive software update and some now connectivity capability. Also HVAC vents below display can receive redesigned to make center stack more attractive.
2019 Audi S7 Engine Speculation
Under the 2019 Audi S7 hood, there is an option to increase power on current engine or to use a completely new drive unit. Recall current generation use 4.0 L V-8 engine with 450 horses and 406 lb-ft of torque. If we start with the first option, the expected increase could be at least 470 horses and 420 lb-ft of torque. Seen circular acceleration from 0 to 62 mph, additional power can reduce time for 0.1-0.2 seconds (current 4.5 seconds). Maximum speed will remain electronically limited to 155 mph (250 km/h). Via dual clutch S Tronic automatic transmission with seven speed power will be forced to both axle with Quattro all wheel drive system. Second option as new engine is still in the fog, and could mean a similar output but possibly better performance.
2019 Audi S7 Release Date, Price
Although not like to write about vehicles that are just emerging on the first test, especially if in showrooms should arrive in two to three years, this time I made an exception. The reason is of course a hint of design that has common points for Prologue concept. The new generation will certainly bring some novelties and will be increase in prices or she should not be palpable due to the tight competition. If we go away and try to guess we can say that new 2019 Audi S7 can start from $80,500 for entry-level Premium Plus trim (current price start from $79,900). On other side the 2019 Audi S7 range-topping Prestige trim can start from $85,000 (current price start from $83,475).
