2017 Seat Ateca Review

The long awaited compact SUV from Spanish Seat will not be called Aran. Name 2017 Seat Ateca it was discovered before the promotion in Chicago. Inspiration for the name used by Spanish city Ateca in region Aragon. Financial problems in the Spanish auto manufacturer have led to fast implementation 20V20 concept into production model.

If we go back in the near past 20V20 concept was the continued development Seat IBX. Estimates that the crossover market will grow over the years have proved to be accurate and is a logical decision to enter this segment. With beautiful design, well equipped interior and wide engine lineup seems to have the potential to endanger Kia Sportage and also might in the future segment leaders Nissan Qashqai.

Many will use to represent the younger brother Volkswagen Tiguan but it will not appear on the American market. The reason is that Seat has not yet decided to enter this market. Interestingly, the production will not be in company’s factory in Catalonia. Its location will be Skoda’s main production factory. Sales begin in September and earlier should be revealed price.

2017 Seat Ateca Exterior

The 2017 Seat Ateca exterior is mix of Leon and more aggressive 20V20 concept. This combination give “small Tiguan” (Ateca is 5 inches shorter). The upper fascia is shared with Leon Cross Sport while down more traction on concept. The headlights and grille together with taillights work easier and less aggressive than on the concept. Two exhaust pipes will be together on the left side.

Length 171.7 inches (4,360 mm)
Width 72.4 inches (1,840 mm)
Height 62.9 inches (1,600 mm)
Wheelbase 103.9 inches (2,640 mm)

2017 Seat Ateca Interior

The interior has much more personality with Seat Leon unlike 20V20 concept. The similarity is reflected in large A/C vents, center console with integrated 8 inches touchscreen with the Box Connectivity and dashboard layout. The differences are slightly less sporty steering, raised seating position, thicker pillars and more space in the back. A whole story seems less aggressive and sports and more focused as a convenience. This is logical considering that this is a family oriented SUV.

Trunk volume will be one of the main advantages. For front wheel drive model is 18 cu. ft. or 510 liters, while for all wheel drive model is 17 cu. ft. or 485 liters. In comparison with Qashqai, Seat Ateca offer 80 liters more space.
